Oral Sessions Proposal – OHBM 2025
OHBM2025-Oral Sessions
We propose a transformative framework for consciousness and cognition that bridges cutting-edge neuroimaging with ancestral wisdom and socioterritorial realities. Through the DANA framework (DNA + Vital Spirituality), intelligence is reconceptualized as an emergent property of dynamic body-environment-culture systems.
This model integrates:
- Dynamic Connectomes structured as Rock-Paper-Scissors systems (Salience, Default Mode, Frontoparietal Networks)
- The 12 Human Senses as belonging-based quorum sensing mechanisms
- Pre-activated Memories as substrates for perception and temporal experience
Rethinking Neuroscience Through a Systemic-Decolonial Lens
The OHBM 2025 oral sessions offer an opportunity to realign neuroscience with justice, context, and epistemological diversity. We connect session themes with the concepts of the Responsible State, Damasian Mind, and Extended Proprioception (APUS) to offer a vision of radically contextual and participatory brain research.
Brain Stimulation: Between Technique and Territory
- How tDCS/TMS parameters reflect cultural biases in “normality” standards
- Neuromodulation as a tool to restore metabolic balance in economically stressed communities
- Modeling stimulation responses using territorial variables (e.g., access to basic resources)
Applied Case: Prefrontal stimulation in regions with and without basic income (Citizen DREX) could reveal how material security modulates neural plasticity.
Neurological Disorders Through the Life Cycle
Neurodegeneration and Aging
- Challenging the pathologization of aging in cultures where elders maintain communal function
- Investigating how social belonging (human quorum sensing) modulates neurodegeneration markers
Neurodevelopmental Conditions
- Critiquing diagnostic paradigms that ignore natural neurocognitive diversity
- Proposing collaborative education as early intervention rooted in strengths, not deficits
Ethics and Education: Beyond Data Protection
- How data protection protocols may reproduce asymmetries for marginalized groups
- The need for community-led data governance, especially with Indigenous populations
- The concept of DREX Data: fair compensation for participation in research
Genetics and Cognition: Decolonizing Biological Markers
- Recognizing gene expression as modulated by existential contexts (emotional metabolism)
- Questioning the search for universal biomarkers divorced from social determinants of health
- Proposing community-based transcriptomics linking molecular profiles with territorial experience
Higher Cognitive Functions in Context
Language and Memory
- Mapping how Indigenous languages with distinct temporal structures activate different networks
- Episodic memory as a metabolic-existential construction, not just a hippocampal process
Lifespan Development
- Including access to material resources as variables in neural trajectory studies
- Modeling how rites of passage shape brain connectivity across cultures
Data Analysis with Systemic Responsibility
Activation and Connectivity Modeling
- Designing algorithms to detect neural signatures of cultural resilience
- Including ecological variables (air quality, food security) in predictive models
Multivariate Approaches
- Creating analyses that honor the principle of incompleteness: every dataset entails a loss of context
Neuroanatomy and Metabolism: Beyond the Individual
- Exploring how cerebral metabolic rhythms synchronize with ecological cycles (seasons, harvests)
- Investigating the neurochemistry of belonging in different communal arrangements
Neuroinformatics and Innovation: Technology in Service of Buen Vivir
- Developing mobile acquisition protocols for studies in remote territories
- Creating repositories that value local neural patterns, not only Western data
- Building demo software that includes tools for participatory community-based analysis

Toward a Radically Contextual Neuroscience
The OHBM 2025 oral sessions are more than technical showcases—they are a chance to:
1. Decolonize scientific paradigms
2. Reconnect brains to their metabolic and territorial contexts
3. Create new relevance metrics based on community well-being
This is a call for scanners that listen to the streets, algorithms aware of their biases, and knowledge that liberates rather than controls.
